Vitalic was born in 1973 in Borodianka-Ukraine-in a traditionnal Ukrainian family living from the selling of animal furs. In 1989, after the falling down of the Berlin wall, he could emigrate to Eastern Germany with his dog -Mini Robot- where he survived with parttime jobs and even masculine prostitution. Little by little, Vitalic decided to stop playing the “Trubka”, a traditional Ukrainian instrument, and started to compose electronic music in a collective near Munich. Then Kobayashi Records (France) released his first EP in June 2001, followed by Gigolo Records (Munich) with the Poney EP - a record about the pain of ponies in funfairs.

Vitalic is the main project of Pascal Arbez (born 1973). His first singles were released in 1996 and 1997 but the singles ware pretty much part of the underground scene. However, while being part of the underground scene, he became good friends with Michel Amoto, aka The Hacker. The Hacker suggested he send his new tracks to DJ Hell in Munich. Pascal did exactly that. DJ Hell’s label, International DeeJay Gigolo Records, released “Poney EP” in 2001. “Poney EP” was a huge success shortly after its release.

In 2005, Vitalic’s debut album, “OK Cowboy” was released. Pascal states that all of the instruments used in the album are fake and are produced from a synthesizer. However, Pascal also stated that what he can’t fake is the emotion that coats his music.
