Christopher Milo Interview

One…Two…Three…DJ!
Christopher Milo aka Three just may be the most underrated DJ out there. Of course that’s long been one of the oldest dance music clichés. Barring that title, he has long been a crowd favorite in the anomalous hotbed of dance music in Tampa, Florida and has oft been name checked as many a DJ’s favorite DJ, including Sasha!

You might never imagine it, but his long-running monthly Hallucination Limited residency at Snatch in Tampa is still a requisite spot on the in-demand DJ circuit with recent visits by Laurent Garnier, Terry Francis, Damian Lazarus and Sasha. On Garnier’s short five-city US tour late last year, he cited Tampa as his favorite city, even over us here in NYC.

Three has since transplanted himself here to NYC and his DJ presence at a club or at afterhours is still a treat. This stems from his pure love of music and coupled with his impeccable taste and programming, translated into hours on end of musical transcendence. His Hallucination Limited WMC parties have always served a higher purpose in initiating new artists with James Holden and Radio Slave and in particular, breaking out Damian Lazarus onto the scene with much aplomb in 2005. This year is no different with live performances by Canadian techno-jazz trio Cobblestone Jazz and LA’s Reverse Commuter and DJ trio Droog at the 5th Annual Hallucination Limited party at The Pawn Shop on March 25th. One…Two…THREE…Party!

Three’s annual Hallucination Limited event “Hallucienda” has been a WMC staple for 5 years running. Each year a fresh, like-minded artist is invited along for the ride. Previous guests include James Holden, Radio Slave and Damian Lazarus. This year, Label head honcho Three will be joined by Canadian trio Cobblestone Jazz performing tracks from their new album “23 Seconds.” Their unique, organic live show maintains the quality of improvisational jazz but with a techno dancefloor aesthetic. Also not-to-be-missed is the debut live performance of Hallucination Limited artist Reverse Commuter, performing from his forthcoming artist album. Hailing from Los Angeles, Reverse Commuter’s Ken Gibson is renown for projects like [a]pendics.shuffle, K.J. Gibbs and The Premature Wig. Finally, rounding out the line-up is the wicked Los Angeles DJ trio known as Droog, comprised of Andrei Osyka, Brett Griffin and Justin Sloe.
